Overcome life's extreme obstacles by overcoming your State of Mind

Blog of a preggo runner: Amazing women

It is amazing what some women can while pregnant.  I had grandiose ideas of what I'd be doing and able to do while pregnant- although I did quite a bit as long as I could no longer am I running up my favorite trails, mostly just a slow waddle,

I really admire women like Kara Groucher, and Olympic runner who continued training throughout pregnancy.

I was amazed to learn that she was running 80 miles some weeks, I don't think I even did that when training for a marathon before I was pregnant!

She ran in a “fun” run at 16 weeks and found herself taking it way too seriously.
“No one knew I was pregnant so I started picking it up a little more and picking it up a little more. Halfway through I thought, if I can run a 5:30 mile, I can win the women’s division,” she said. “It was crazy. After that my husband was like, ‘No, you can’t enter races for fun anymore. You don’t have the capability to just run easy.”

Again, I don't think I've run under a 6 minute mile in my life, let alone 3-6 miles in a row while pregnant!

For an athlete of her caliber it is probably not a difficult thing to do and she probably barely got her heart rate up.  What amazes me is her ability to train and push through the fatigue that accompanies pregnancy- now that takes a lot of motivation and some mental toughness!

I am eager to see how she does this year after the birth of her baby- it may give me some motivation!
